For the New Orleans Saints this is a crucial time for the franchise. Finishing with a 5 win record in the 2024 season, which is the worst record since the 3-13 Katrina season. Meaning also, the team cannot mess this up. They have many positions of need they have to fill. I took the liberty of creating a SAINTS only NFL Draft guide. Below I will have what picks they have, team needs, and my personal SAINTS big board of draft prospects that I feel are within realistic range for the Saints in each round.
Since Wix gives me a limit on words I can publish I will have to publish multiple links of the draft guide. Below will be part one. Includes: Team needs, most recent mock, Picks, and part one of my Draft Board. Starting off with the QBs and RBs. I will have links for the rest of the guide in this post. Thank you for reading in advance.

Dual-Threat Capability: Dart excels as a dual-threat quarterback, combining effective passing with solid rushing ability. His 495 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns demonstrate his athleticism and ability to extend plays with his legs, making him a dynamic presence in both the pocket and on the move.
Accuracy and Ball Placement: Dart consistently shows strong accuracy, particularly on short to intermediate throws. His completion percentage of 69.3% in 2024 speaks to his effectiveness in moving the chains and efficiently distributing the ball to his playmakers.
Quick Release and Poise: His quick release and poise under pressure are key aspects of his game. Dart can operate under duress, keep his eyes downfield, and make accurate throws even when the pocket is collapsing. This mental toughness allows him to stay composed and make big plays when it counts.
Leadership and Competitive Drive: Dart's leadership ability has been a driving factor in Ole Miss's success. He has shown a knack for taking control in critical moments, displaying the competitive edge that teams look for in a future franchise QB. His ability to lead in high-pressure games only adds to his overall value.
Weaknesses:
Deep Ball Inconsistency: Dart's deep-ball accuracy is inconsistent, which could be a concern at the next level. His ability to consistently hit deep passes on the run, or in tight windows, needs improvement to make him a threat on all levels of the field.
Arm Strength Limitations: While Dart has a good arm, it isn’t necessarily elite. There are concerns about his ability to make throws outside the numbers with velocity, especially when it comes to deep sideline routes and downfield throws.

Weaknesses:
Competition Level: Playing in the FCS, Miller's performance against top-tier FBS defenses remains untested, which could be a concern for NFL scouts.
Arm Strength: While efficient, Miller's arm strength may not match that of other top quarterback prospects, potentially limiting his deep-ball effectiveness.
NFL Comparison: Gardner Minshew
Projected Draft Round: 5th - 6th
Shedeur Sanders – Colorado Buffaloes
2024 Season Stats:
Passing Yards: 4,134
Passing Touchdowns: 37
Interceptions: 10
Rushing Yards: 217
Rushing Touchdowns: 5
Strengths:
Elite Accuracy and Touch: Shedeur Sanders’ ability to place the ball precisely where it needs to be is arguably his most impressive trait. His 74.2% completion percentage in 2024 shows just how consistently he can hit his targets, whether it’s a quick slant, deep ball, or a touch pass over the top. His accuracy isn't just about hitting open receivers—it's about throwing the ball in tight windows where only his target can make the catch. His 6.5% off-target rate places him among the nation's top quarterbacks in terms of ball placement, which is vital in translating to the next level.
Football IQ and Mental Processing: Sanders displays an incredibly advanced understanding of the game for a young quarterback. His ability to read defenses and adjust in real-time is on display every time he steps onto the field. He’s well-coached by his father, Deion Sanders, which has contributed to his deep knowledge of offensive schemes and defensive structures. Sanders excels in diagnosing blitzes, recognizing coverage rotations, and quickly determining where to go with the ball. This football IQ also allows him to make quick, decisive decisions and throw with anticipation, further enhancing his effectiveness.
Poise Under Pressure: Despite having one of the most pressure-packed environments in college football, Sanders has proven time and again that he can perform under duress. In 2024, Colorado’s offensive line struggled, leading to Sanders being sacked 42 times—the most in FBS. However, his poise remained constant throughout the season. Instead of panicking under pressure, Sanders shows a calm demeanor and the ability to make quick, sharp decisions even in the face of constant pressure. This trait is invaluable for a quarterback transitioning to the NFL, where the speed of the game will be a significant step up.
Dual-Threat Potential: While Sanders is primarily known as a passer, he has shown that he can contribute effectively in the run game when needed. With 217 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns in 2024, he demonstrated a natural ability to make plays with his legs. While he’s not a scrambler by design, Sanders has a quick release and shows enough agility to make defenders miss in the open field. His rushing ability is not his primary strength, but it does add another dimension to his game and makes him harder to defend.
Weaknesses:
Decision-Making Under Pressure: While Sanders is great under pressure, his decision-making at times can be rushed when he faces immediate blitzes or significant pressure. His 10 interceptions in 2024 indicate that he can sometimes force throws when pressured, which leads to turnovers. This is particularly evident on deep passes, where he occasionally tries to make plays that aren’t there, attempting to fit the ball into coverage that he should avoid. Improving his decision-making in those high-pressure situations will be crucial for his transition to the NFL, where defenders are more adept at taking advantage of mistakes.
NFL Comparison: West Virginia Geno Smith/Supercharged Teddy Bridgewater
Projected Draft Round: 1st Round
Cam Ward – Miami Hurricanes
2024 Season Stats:
Passing Yards: 4,313
Passing Touchdowns: 39
Interceptions: 7
Rushing Yards: 204
Rushing Touchdowns: 4
Strengths:
Elite Arm Strength and Velocity: Cam Ward's arm strength is one of his standout qualities. He possesses the ability to make all the necessary throws, from short touch passes to deep balls, with ease. His velocity on deep passes allows him to stretch defenses vertically and challenge corners and safeties deep down the field. Ward's arm is capable of fitting throws into tight windows, showcasing the type of arm strength that will translate well to the NFL level. He consistently throws with zip, which is particularly noticeable when attacking the boundary or attempting deep shots.
Proven Playmaking and Production: Ward demonstrated incredible production in his 2024 season, amassing 4,313 passing yards and 39 touchdowns. His 67.2% completion rate further highlights his efficiency as a passer. Ward showed the ability to perform under pressure and lead his offense to success in the competitive ACC, a conference known for its strong defenses. He is accustomed to a high volume of plays and has proven to be a prolific scorer in college football.
Mobility and Dual-Threat Ability: While Ward is not a primary running quarterback, he adds an extra layer to his game with his mobility. His ability to pick up yards on the ground keeps defenses on edge, particularly when plays break down or he needs to extend plays outside the pocket. With 204 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns, Ward’s ability to make plays with his legs adds a dual-threat dimension that makes him even more difficult to defend.
Weaknesses:
Decision-Making Under Pressure: One of the primary concerns with Ward is his decision-making when facing heavy pressure. While he has the arm talent to make difficult throws, he occasionally forces passes into tight coverage, leading to interceptions or incomplete throws. His 7 interceptions in 2024 reflect this tendency to make ill-advised throws when pressured, often trying to fit the ball into areas he should avoid. At the NFL level, these mistakes will be more costly, and improving his ability to process information and make quicker, smarter decisions will be essential.
Inconsistent Footwork and Mechanics: Ward’s footwork can be inconsistent, especially when faced with pressure. His tendency to shuffle his feet or lose his mechanics when moving within the pocket can result in inaccurate passes. On occasion, his lack of balance while throwing leads to off-target throws, particularly when trying to make throws outside of the pocket or under duress. Developing a more consistent base and refining his mechanics will be critical for him to avoid costly inaccuracy issues in the NFL.

Weaknesses:
Inconsistent Mechanics: Jefferson's throwing mechanics can be inconsistent, particularly under pressure. This inconsistency affects his accuracy and timing, leading to missed opportunities and potential turnovers.
Decision-Making: He has shown a tendency to make questionable decisions, especially when facing complex defensive schemes. Improving his ability to read defenses and make quick, sound decisions will be crucial for his development at the professional level.
Processing Speed: Jefferson needs to enhance his ability to process information rapidly during plays. A quicker mental processing speed will enable him to react more effectively to defensive adjustments and blitzes.
