With the Saints having QB woes since Drew Brees retired they should do what most teams do and finally draft their guy in this upcoming draft. Who you may ask? I have my personal favorite and that is Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman.
Many people may recognize Sam Hartman from the Netflix Doc Series QB1:Beyond the Lights, which was Sam's final year of HS. Since then Sam Hartman has been the starting QB of Wake Forest since 2018, 2019 he lost the starting job to Jamie Newman, but then in 2020 the job was his again.
Since taking the starting job Hartman has made huge leaps and bounds in his progression as a player. One of his most impressive games was just recently against No. 5 Clemson where he passed for over 300 yds passing and tying his own school record for TDs with 6 passing TDs with a completion percentage of around 70%. That is insane numbers.
During the 2022 season, Hartman thus far has ranked in top of each category for pocket passing QBs. There is only one QB over Sam Hartman in terms of Pocket Passing rankings and that is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young.
When it comes to the Saints, they need a QB that can make the throws while in the pocket but also not turn the ball over. Sam Hartman would fit the Saints perfectly. Not only is Hartman one of the top 2 pocket passers in all of college football, but he is also one of the most accurate.
The Saints do not have a first round pick in the 2023 draft. That is okay. You can snag your future franchise QB1 in Sam Hartman in the second round.
